Live Longer, Live Stronger—How the Heart Ages. Join Dr. Karen Ocorr from the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute as she talks about her research for heart disease cures. Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heartbeat that can form blood clots in the chambers of the heart and lead to stroke, heart failure and other cardiovascular symptoms. Dr. Karen Occor uses beating heart cells, zebrafish and fruit flies to identify the underlying causes of atrial fibrillation. This is the third lecture in a five-part series called "Live Longer, Live Stronger Lecture Series" presented by the Fleet Science Center in partnership with the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute. May 5, 2–3 pm. $5–$20. Register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/live-longer-live-strongerstaying-strong-tickets-127252207779.
