Before you gobble up all your favorite Thanksgiving treats, wobble out and burn some calories while helping support our community. ‘Trot’ your stuff at these local turkey trots on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 23.

San Diego Run for the Hungry. The scenic 5K and 10K run/walk starts at Broadway Circle in front of Westfield Horton Plaza, and goes through East Village and the historic Gaslamp Quarter. 7-10 am. $36-$61. Proceeds benefit the hunger-relief programs of the San Diego Food Bank. Register at www.sdrunforthehungry.org.

Pacific Marine Credit Union O’side Turkey Trot. The 10K and 5K run kicks off at 6:55 am and 8:05 am respectively, starting on historic Hwy. 101 at the Civic Center and finishing on The Strand just south of the Oceanside Pier. Also featuring a 5K walk, 1-mile kids’ runs for ages 7-12, Tiny Turkey Trot quarter-mile runs for ages 6 & under, and a costume contest. Register at www.osideturkeytrot.com.

Coronado 5K Turkey Trot. A customized medal for participants plus awards in different age categories. 8 am. $15-$40. Register by Nov. 20. Net proceeds benefit Rady Children’s Hospital. Tidelands Park, 2000 Mullinex Dr. www.rchacoronado.com.

Father Joe’s Villages Thanksgiving Day 5K. Join more than 7,500 walkers and runners bright and early at Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park to help bring an end to homelessness in San Diego. Includes a post-race festival with live music, a costume contest, kids’ area and more. 7:30-10:30 am. $35-$45. www.thanksgivingrun.org.

Del Mar’s Family Fun Run. Runners complete a one-mile loop on the dirt track and may even find themselves running alongside a world-class jockey or two. Family-friendly activities plus puppy races conducted by the Helen Woodward Animal Center. 7-9:30 am. Del Mar Racetrack, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. www.delmarracing.com.

San Diego South Bay Turkey Trot & Food Drive. Choose from three distances: 15K (8 am), 10K (8:05 am) or 5K (8:10 am). Please bring a non-perishable food item to donate to The Salvation Army’s food drive. Rohr Park, 4250 Sweetwater Rd., Bonita. Register at www.sdthanksgivingrun.com.

Encinitas Turkey Trot & Food Drive. The course starts and finishes under the world-famous “Encinitas” sign on the historic Coast Hwy. 101. Prizes will be awarded to the top costumed participants who best display the spirit of Thanksgiving. 10K, 7:30 am; 5K and Costume Division race, 8 am. Benefits the Community Resource Center and the Encinitas Chapter of The American Legion. www.encinitasturkeytrot.org.
