Stuart B. Kincaid, M.D., F.A.C.S.Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Demystified by Qualified Local Doctor

Dr. Stuart Kincaid understands that when a woman first contacts his office to inquire about breast surgery, body contouring, facial plastic surgery or minimally invasive procedures, she will have many questions, and a few concerns. He makes it his mission to provide honest answers and help educate them about cosmetic and plastic surgery.

“We have to be good listeners, this is an emotionally charged surgery procedure,” Kincaid says, as patients come in with hopes, dreams, fears and aspirations. “Some have thought about it for years, some just started to think about it two weeks ago.”

Treating both the physical and emotional needs of the patient is all part of his job, he likens it to being “a psychiatrist with a scalpel,” and says, “I believe the goal of cosmetic plastic surgery should be to bring one’s self-image and body-image into better balance; and by so doing, improve one’s self-esteem.”

A board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Kincaid says, “There are right ways and wrong ways of doing things. People hear horror stories in the press– often these instances have occurred because the doctor involved did not have the proper qualifications.”

He encourages potential patients to do their research on reputable websites such as the American Board of Plastic Surgery (www.abplsurg.org), American Society of Plastic Surgeons (www.plasticsurgery.org), and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (www.surgery.org). His own website is also a great resource for information, covering topics like cosmetic vs. plastic surgery, procedure descriptions, tips for choosing a physician, and more.

“People now want stability, natural results and services, want to be best they can be at whatever phase of life they are in,” says Kincaid.

With 26 years of practice and thousands of successful procedures to his credit, Dr. Kincaid confidently offers his clients three very important things: qualifications, experience and comfort.  He serves patients throughout San Diego and Riverside counties areas in his two offices.

There is a lot of confusion in the public about cosmetic and plastic surgery in this day and age, where procedures are offered by a wide variety of practitioners.  Because this is elective surgery, it worries Kincaid that clients may not take it as seriously as they should—and some will be lured by discount offerings for procedures.

“It’s not like it was 26 years ago when I started,” he says, relating that back then only a limited number of highly qualified doctors could perform procedures. But now those services are being performed by individuals who offer discounted prices and are less qualified, but who are not plastic surgery board certified, often do not have hospital privileges, and do not have appropriate qualifications or years of experience.

“When a lady makes a decision to contact us the first time, it is important to dialogue with them, communicate with them personally, introduce the practice.” He adds, “They may have financial fears.”

With clients from all walks of life, including single moms and military spouses, he helps people set up affordable financial plans with reputable lending institutions. The office consultation is an important step in helping to ascertain their needs. Kincaid’s practice offers a wide variety of procedures including breast augmentations, liposuction, ‘tummy tucks’, facelifts, rhinoplasty, peels, fillers and much more. Dr. Kincaid and his staff work together to come up with the best plan of action for each individual, making sure that the patient is provided with thoughtful, professional service from initial consult all the way through aftercare.

Dr. Kincaid says, “A well informed patient ahead of time is a much happier elective surgery patient after.”

San Diego Surf SchoolStudents Learn Surfing Culture in Pacific Beach

“I was captivated by the ocean at a young age,” says Souf Tihhi.  Growing up in Morocco, he started surfing at age 7, and loved it so much that he never stopped, going on to ride the waves at some of the world’s best surf spots in Africa, Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, the East Coast and California.  Then he settled here and opened San Diego Surf School in 2000.

“I started out with nothing,” says Tihhi. “I now have up to 30 instructors working in the summer time, holding classes, lessons and camps, but they’re not just for beginners.” Private and group surf lessons, summer camps and stand-up paddle boarding instruction is offered.

“We teach that surfing is not just a sport, but a remedy for life. It is a way to relieve your stress and forget about your worries, [to focus on] spiritual awakening or meditating, keeping balance, staying healthy and enjoying the sunset as dolphins pass by,” says Tihhi.

Special limited time offers for 2011 Summer Surf Camps: 1 surfer = $50 off any camp; 2 surfers = buy one camp get one ½ off, 3 surfers = buy 2 day camps get 3rd one free.
