Montessori ExplorerTraditional Montessori Education offered in South Bay

Dinusha Perera saw a serious need for a Montessori school connected with an organization that followed the method, so she opened Montessori Explorer in July 2001. Serving children from preschool to the lower elementary grades, the school is affiliated with the American Montessori Society.

Director Perera says, “We are the only Montessori school that offers a traditional program and the only school to have a Montessori elementary program in the South Bay. We value everyone’s needs and respect every individual for who they are. We are unique; many parents will testify to the fact that we go above and beyond preparing their children for the next level of their education journey.” The enrichment program happens after-school and during school hours. Now is the perfect time to inquire about programs! Parent orientations and tours begin in January. Discounts are available to Sharp Hospital employees and new enrollees. The school year begins in July 2012.

Happy Heinys & Baby FrenzyLocal Mom Creates Re-usable Cloth Diapers to Help Infant Daughter Thrive

A true mother of invention, Linda Byerline developed “Happy Heinys,” her popular line of reusable cloth diapers, in response to her premature daughter’s health struggles. Baby Sarah’s allergy to disposable diapers inspired Byerline to use her background as a nurse and stay-at-home-mom to create the diapers that she and her husband now manufacture in El Cajon and sell to the public in their store, Baby Frenzy.

The natural parenting store also carries hard-to-find products from companies like Baby Legs, Beco, Belly Bandit, Ergo, Inspired by Finn, Nose Frieda, Simple Wishes and more.

“While buying online is convenient, it has its downfalls. We give you the opportunity to touch and feel and try on the items you have been shopping for online,” Byerline says.

“Working with the community is also extremely important to us in all areas,” she continues. Baby Frenzy welcomes moms with a parent’s room on site for classes, meetings and get-togethers, and a play area for the little ones to enjoy while the moms shop and chat. “Baby Frenzy should be every mom’s go-to store for their baby and toddler needs,” says Byerline.

Children's Physicians Medical GroupNew Blog Presents Valuable Information on Children's Health Topics

“There are many sources for kids’ health information on the Internet, but how do you know if you can trust them?” asks Dr. Tanya Dansky, medical director and CEO of Children’s Physicians Medical Group (CPMG). To help remedy this, CPMG has launched a new health blog: Kids’ Health First, as a resource for pediatric health information and news.

“The content you’ll find there is written by our own pediatricians and pediatric specialists, ensuring that the information you’re getting is the most current and accurate on any given topic,” explains Dansky. The blog also encourages readers to share their experiences with the online community.

Established in 1998, CPMG is a pediatric-only network of more than 400 primary care pediatricians and pediatric specialists that serves more than 71,000 children in San Diego and southern Riverside Counties.

“Because our sole focus is on children, from birth to age 18, we truly do put kids’ health first,” Dansky continues. We are the only network of physicians in San Diego who are dedicated to the care and well being of only children. Our affiliation with Rady Children’s Hospital gives our members direct access to the hospital and all its specialists and services.”

Bubbles Swim SchoolSwim School Teaches Water Safety Skills to Infants and Children

“In 1976 my own children began swimming,” says Jere Burns, owner of Bubbles Swim School. “My passion for teaching started when I saw how my children responded to the water. It was then that I realized babies can learn to swim. The freedom of movement in the water helps them to develop motor skills they are unable to use on dry land. I wanted to share this with others.”

Bubbles offers quality swim instruction for all ages, from babies through adults. “We specialize in infants and toddlers,” Burns continues. “Our highly advanced program produces results.”

“Our gentle approach to handling infants enables them to learn to swim at a very young age,” Burns explains. “We emphasize safety and decision making in the water. This unique method allows children to become water safe very young.

“With time and patience young children can become water safe in a pool early, long before they are ready to begin any other sport. Swimming is the one sport that could potentially save the life of your child,” Burns says.
