Nightingale Music SchoolBringing the Joy of Making Music to Young Children

When Jennifer Tandy searched for a quality music program for her young daughter 15 years ago, she had a hard time finding one nearby—so she solved that problem by creating her own. Drawing on her background in music education and as a professional actress, she began offering informal music sessions for friends and their children in her home. They became so popular, she was able to build them into business. Tandy opened Nightingale Music School in La Jolla in 2001, and expanded to South Park’s Baby Garten in 2010 by offering classes for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their parents.

“We also offer group guitar, group keyboard, drum classes and voice classes at our La Jolla location,” says Tandy. “Classes for early childhood are thematic 8-week sessions that feature wonderfully varied manipulatives, puppets, parachutes, streamers,
xylophones, as well as an unending assortment of rhythm instruments, bringing a fresh and new lesson each week. CDs and songbooks are included in the cost of the session. Our teachers are highly trained professionals who have music education backgrounds, strong vocal ability and play guitar, so every class is an interactive live musical education experience. We offer unlimited make-ups and half off sibling discounts.”

Gamez on WheelzState of the Art Gaming Experience Provides Unforgettable Fun

“Although the industry is still relatively new, there are a lot of gaming trucks around now. Mine is the upgraded version,” says Gamez on Wheelz owner and operator, David Dunn. Inside the limo-style gaming environment are four, 3D high-definition televisions with surround sound and rumblers under the seats to enhance the experience of players who choose from XBOX, Playstation and Wii. Two more HDTVs are outside under an 18’ awning.

“Then there is the most popular TV at the rear of the theater—the interactive Rock Band stage,” he continues. “It has its own HDTV as well as a set of drums, a couple of guitars and vocals, and we are the only ones anywhere with a Rock Band stage.”

“This is social video gaming at its absolute finest,” Dunn says. “It is great for team parties, Bar Mitzvahs, ‘rewards’ parties, scouting groups, team building events, family reunions, backyard barbecues and, of course, the best birthday party ever! Mention this article and you will be upgraded to the all-inclusive package for FREE. That means the Rock Band stage, the two outside TVs, DirecTV and the 3D package will all be included in your party package for free,” offers Dunn.
