Science and Fun Are a Perfect Mix at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center
The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is a hands-on science experience with more than 100 exhibits and San Diego’s only IMAX Dome Theater.
The center opened in 1973 to inspire lifelong learning by furthering the public understanding and enjoyment of science and technology. It’s the perfect place for families to spend quality time together in an environment that fosters creativity. “Kid City” is for toddlers ages 5 and younger and includes a book nook for reading time, a magnetic alphabet wall to build spelling skills, funhouse mirror, building blocks, miniature city with a factory and grocery store, and computers with programs designed for young minds.
Couple a visit to “Kid City” with a screening of “Animalopolis.” This new IMAX film takes a light-hearted look at the animal kingdom using Seussian-styled narration in rhyme and verse. Kids are entertained by whimsical scenes of waltzing bears, singing lions and sea lions turning somersaults.

Learning is a Splash at Noonan Family Swim School
Jeff and Monica Noonan are passionate about teaching children how to swim. Experienced staff, along with this husband and wife team, offer small classes with a 3:1 student/instructor ratio for children and adults.
Jeff, a WSI and American Red Cross certified trainer, has been teaching and coaching swimming for 25 years. Monica, a WSI certified trainer and lifeguard, created the Splash Babies program for children ages 6 months to 3 years. This warm water program promotes parent/child bonding and helps children learn sensory and tactile skills. Proud parents of a boy, 2, and girl, 3, the Noonans believe that children who learn to swim at an early age develop higher self-esteem and a healthy relationship with water.
Year-round indoor programs in Murrieta, Del Mar, and San Diego and summer swim lessons in Poway and Temecula are offered, along with adult swim lessons, water aerobics, American Arthritis Foundation certified instructors, swim teams and birthday parties.

Chivalry Today Offers a Knight’s View of History
Explore the history, literature and philosophy of the Code of Chivalry! Chivalry Today offers educational seminars to schools, libraries and youth organizations and gives students an interactive look at the values of knighthood and the tales of the Round Table. An educational Website provides information on the history and ideals of chivalry, and a monthly podcast, featuring commentary and interviews with authors, educators and experts in fields pertaining to chivalry.
Founder Scott Farrell started the program in 2001, after performing in Renaissance Faires and jousting festivals for more than 25 years.
“I felt there was a need for students to look beyond the images and events of history to explore the values and ideals that come to us from those historical periods,” Farrell says. “It was a way of presenting a message that being honorable and ethical isn’t a sign of being weak, that, in fact, the stronger you are, the more responsibility you have to live by a code of honor like the Code of Chivalry.”
