Common Scholarship ApplicationMerit Scholarships for Female Students

Take advantage of this online application that makes the scholarship process easier for graduating high school seniors as well as current college graduates and adult re-entry students. With only one application, students are considered for hundreds of scholarships held at The San Diego Foundation. Awards are granted to four-year universities, two-year colleges, graduate and trade/vocational schools. To apply, go to www.sdfoundation.org/scholarships. Deadline: Feb. 13.

Poster Design Competition. The Art Institute of California-San Diego and Americans for the Arts invite high school seniors and high school graduates to express their creativity as they design a poster with the theme, “You Can Create Tomorrow.” Winners will receive scholarships to The Art Institute of California-San Diego. First place winners will go on to compete in the national competition where the winner in the high school senior category will be awarded a full-tuition scholarship to an Art Institutes school and the winner in the high school graduate category will earn a $10,000 tuition scholarship. NEW!Teen Screen at San Diego Jewish Film Festival. On Feb. 14 at 6 pm, a pizza dinner will be followed by the screening of Kaddish for a Friend, the story of an unlikely friendship between Ali, a 14-year-old Palestinian refugee who hates Jews, and an elderly Russian Jew, Alexander, who passionately wants to continue living independently. When Ali's friends trash Alexander's apartment, only Ali is recognized. To avoid criminal charges and deportation, Ali reluctantly agrees to help Alexander renovate his apartment and the two gradually overcome obstacles of hatred and despair. Teen Art Café: Modern Mexico. Meet other teens interested in art and discover the ideas behind the exhibit, Mexican Modern Painting from the Andrés Blaisten Collection.
