Del Mar Hills Nursery School
Since 1970, Del Mar Hills Nursery School addresses total development of the whole child- socially, emotionally, physically, creatively, and cognitively. Through play, children develop with pleasure and natural interest.
We offer children a unique environment. It is our goal to provide a balanced environment, one that includes the appropriate amount of structure and freedom, to encourage independence and avoid frustration within each child.
We appreciate being a traditional nursery school and continue many of our long lasting traditions. We celebrate all children’s cultural holidays and find wonderment in all the seasons have to offer. We value the child’s home life and respect the partnership we have with our families, welcoming involvement in many ways.
Mission Statement
The goal of Del Mar Hills Nursery School is to provide a joyful, loving environment in which children can develop. We feel this can be accomplished by supplying a well-trained teaching staff, daily planning of quality activities, and working in partnership with our families. We strive for each child to feel safe and secure at our school, building trusting and respectful relationships with other children and adults. Our environment is meant to guide the child through quality play experiences, what we feel is the most important work for young children. Each area that the child will choose to explore will provide development creatively, cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. In this way, we address the growing needs of the whole child.
Signs of a Successful Nursery School Program
Long time families continue to return with new siblings, year after year, resulting in an almost 99% return rate.
Parents that have attended our program return to enroll their own children, helping us welcome second-generation
children frequently.
Past students from our program have returned to teach at Del Mar Hills Nursery School! We have had four students return as teachers in our program, one being our current Director.
Parents that have brought their children to our school have changed career paths, taking the necessary classes to teach at our school. We have two current teachers in this category, as well as a past Director who retired after 20 years.
