toy review

San Diego Family Magazine Toy Review Submissions

We have two toy reviews each year. Our Summer Toy Review is part of our Celebrations Guide in our June issue and our Holiday Toy Review appears in our November and December issues.

We are looking for toys and games that are new to the market. We are not able to review revamped editions of classic toys or games. Please do not re-submit toys that you have already sent for previous review.   We do not accept CD's or DVD's for either of these toy reviews.

We receive many great submissions, but space constraints limit the number of toys that can be included in our print issue. Additional toy reviews will be available on our Website, SanDiegoFamily.com. We cannot guarantee placement in the print issue, but all toys that receive a high score (9 or 10), will be included in the online review.

If your item is selected for review, we will email you a PDF of the review, which will also be available online within the digital issue. If you prefer to receive a hard copy of the issue, please include your business card or current mailing address. Submissions that do not meet these guidelines will not be considered for review.

To submit products for review (in print OR online), please adhere to the following guidelines:

Send two samples of each toy/game to Linda Bay at the address below (please be certain to note 5th Floor). Include the following:

  • Price and age recommendation for the item.
  • Descriptive information about product being submitted: including PRICE and WEBSITE.
  • A high resolution, color image of the toy/gift. Email it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or send a CD or flash drive with your submission. Email is preferred. We accept jpeg, tiff, eps and PDF files. Please no lo-res web graphics.

One toy will be reviewed by local readers; the duplicate toy will be donated to a local children’s charity, or may be used by SDFM as a promotional giveaway. Gifts that receive the highest scores (9 or 10) will be included in our review. Product/toy samples will NOT be returned.
